FULLERTON — Claire Sirna, who will begin her senior year this fall at Rosary Academy, was named the top candidate out of 500 students who recently participated in the demanding West Point Summer Leadership Program held at the Army’s military academy in New York. She was recognized for the best combined scores in physical training, academics and leadership.
The 500 program candidates, chosen from a field of more than 6,000 applicants nationwide, participated in daily physical and military training and academic classes. Sirna chose American history, English and computer science/cyber security as her academic specialties during the program.
At the awards presentation, the Dean of the Academic Board and the Head of Admissions for West Point recognized Sirna as the candidate who best embodied the principles of duty, honor and country. She also was congratulated by Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno.
