■ Mission Branch at Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano (Thursday evenings)
■ St. Kilian Branch in Mission Viejo (Monday mornings)
This year, The Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study celebrates 40 years of transforming lives through God’s word. Founded in 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri, Cornerstone began when five Catholic women spent six years participating in a non-denominational Bible study. Inspired by the life-changing experience of studying the “Living Word,” they longed for a program that offered the same depth of scripture while remaining firmly rooted in the Catholic faith. After discovering that no such study existed, they gathered weekly in prayer, asking God for guidance.
More people joined their mission, and after a year of prayer and preparation, The Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study was born. Today, this scripture study has grown to 23 branches across eight states. The Cornerstone meets for 20 weekly sessions from September through April (with holiday breaks).
Each session uses a proven four-part method:
1. Questions: Individual daily study questions.
2. Talks: Two informative spiritual lectures.
3. Sharing: Small group sharing and prayer.
4. Commentary: Deep theological reading materials.
