Joe and Barbara Baldo recently returned from a vacation that included a visit to Santa Maria de Montserrat in Catalonia, Spain, about an hour outside Barcelona. The monastery is home to the revered wooden statue of Our Lady of Montserrat and the Christ Child. Our Lady of Montserrat is the patron saint of Catalonia, an honor she shares with St. George.
Many miracles have been attributed to the statue. Adding to the significance of their visit, Pope Leo celebrated Mass at the monastery the day before the Baldos arrived.
