OC CATHOLIC AFAR

6/30/2026

Henry Bui joyfully visited the Statue of Liberty in New York City with a copy of OC Catholic in hand.

A gift from France, the statue was dedicated in 1886.

Made of copper, the statue holds a torch above her head with one hand, and in the other carries a tabula ansata inscribed JULY IV MDCCLXXVI which translates to “July 4, 1776,” written in Roman numerals), the date of the country’s Declaration of Independence.

The statue became a symbol of freedom, welcoming immigrants arriving to America via Ellis Island.

ALL PRAISE TO OUR MIGHTY RESURRECTED LORD JESUS decisively achieving our true liberty from sin and death.
