Mater Dei administration has announced its selection for the head coaching position for its girls softball program. Jessica Foley, formerly the team’s assistant coach, will now lead the 2015/2016 CIF Division Champion team.
“Everyone here at Mater Dei is excited about Jessica Foley taking over as the head coach of the Mater Dei softball team,” said Tia Meza, Mater Dei Athletic Director. “Jessica has a passion for the game and a wealth of knowledge that the players can benefit from. We look forward to a bright future and continued success with her at the helm.”
“I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to continue coaching at Mater Dei this year. Taking over this program is a huge honor and I will continue to uphold the traditions of the school, both on and off the field,” said Foley. “We have a great group of student-athletes returning this season along with a very talented group of incoming freshmen. This year will definitely have its challenges. We know that every team we face will be coming after us with everything they have, and no opponent can be taken lightly. I am very confident that these young ladies will work harder than ever to ensure the continued success of the program. I can’t wait to get back out on the field with these girls and see what this upcoming season holds for us.”
During the 2015-2016 softball season, Coach Foley helped lead the Mater Dei softball team to the CIF Division I Championship as the assistant coach. As a player, Jessica played softball at El Modena High School, where she was two-time 1st Team All-League recipient in 2004 & 2005, 2005 Century League MVP, 1st Team All-County recipient in 2005 and 2nd Team All-League recipient in 2003.
