The La Habra Life Center – which provides pregnancy tests, clothes, diapers, support and counseling to women and families in crisis – recently celebrated its move to a new, larger location.
A Feb. 4 open house at the new center at 860 E. La Habra Blvd., Suite 150 drew about 100 visitors, said Mecki Grothues, the center’s director. “This is a more inviting, professional and spacious location and helps to enhance the dignity of the women we serve,” Grothues says. Within the year she expects that the center will offer expanded services, such as sonograms and natural family planning classes.
The La Habra Chamber of Commerce marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and Father Martin Tran, vicar of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, blessed the center.
Grothues says the center serves up to 70 people each month. It is supported by the Diocese of Orange’s Pennies from Heaven campaign.
