The Diocese of Orange Office of Life, Justice and Peace has organized an event that is a Catholic call to prayer and solidarity with the Dreamers, young people enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. outside the Brea district office of Rep. Ed Royce.
Hundreds are expected to attend to hear the personal stories of Dreamers and other immigrants and to call attention to their plight. The organizers will call upon the legislators, particularly those of the Catholic faith including Royce, Lou Correa and Mimi Walters, to protect the DACA youth and to pass the Dream Act immediately.
There will be a roll call of the parishes represented, of the clergy attending, and of the support groups present. All will be led in prayer by clergy and lay leaders.
