The realization of a shrine at Christ Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of La Vang is one step closer, thanks to two donations recently presented to Bishop Thanh Thai Nguyen, who is leading the project.
The first, a $30,000 check, was received from Mrs. Nguyen Thi Luc who has a special devotion to Mary and who was a longtime parishioner of Father Tuyen Nguyen and a former member of St. Calistus Church. Mrs. Nguyen and her children have been saving in order to personally present the check to Bishop Nguyen.
A second donation in the amount of $500,000 was also recently confirmed from an anonymous donor. The donor shared that they have sold property in order to help fund the Our Lady of La Vang shrine, an offer of thanksgiving for the special blessings they have received after praying to the Blessed Mother.
$8.2 million has been pledged to support the campaign. To date $5.45 million has been collected.
