YOUNG CATHOLIC PROFESSIONALS LAUNCHES OC CHAPTER

The local group offers young Catholic professionals a place to continue their faith formation among peers and to learn how to live their Catholic faith as they grow in their careers

If you’re young, Catholic, and in the working world, there is a new local organization that wants to meet you. The Young Catholic Professionals, a national nonprofit based in Texas with chapters across the county and with hopes to go international, has just launched its Orange County chapter.

The launch event for YCP Orange County was held in the Cultural Center at Christ Cathedral in early December. More than 200 attended to learn more about the group and what it offers members.

Monika Bik, president of the OC chapter, said the group’s mission is “Working and witnessing for Christ.” That, she says, involves learning how to incorporate one’s faith into one’s work life.

The lineup of events for 2016 includes a speaker series in which local business leaders share their own stories of how they have lived their faith throughout their careers. There are four “happy hours” planned so members can simply network and get to know each other better, sharing their own personal stories. And two retreats are also on the docket that will include a more in-depth look living the faith.

OC Catholic TV met with the leaders of the local chapter to learn more. The video below offers an introduction to the new YCP Orange County.
