Episode No. 57 Saturday, March 23, 2019 Mark Thallander, former Organist of the Crystal Cathedral and President of the Mark Thallander Foundation, and Julian Revie, Composer, Church Musician, and Honorary Board Member of the Mark Thallander Foundation.

 Hear all about the FALL FESTIVAL OF FAITH to be held on Christ Cathedral Campus this coming October 26, 2019. This all-day Choral Festival will feature guest conductor, Mack Wilberg, conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He will work with hundreds of singers, adult and children, brass, and organ through the day. This Ecumenical Event is sponsored by the Mark Thallander Foundation and Christ Cathedral Music Ministry. This is the 36th Festival sponsored by the Foundation. Singers from around the area and from many faith communities participate. Over the years choir members have sung with great conductors from around the globe, including John Rutter. Mark and Julian give their own insights into the importance of such gatherings. One of Julian’s compositions, To Follow The Star will be featured in this year’s festival.

MUSIC FROM THE TOWER: GUEST IS MARK THALLANDER

Episode 21   November 18, 2017     Mark Thallander, Concert Organist, long-time Organist at Crystal Cathedral (1976-1993), President of the Mark Thallander Foundation.

This is an amazing story of a wonderful musician, who served the Crystal Cathedral for 18 years, 1976 – 1993, as Assistant Organist and assisting for the Hour of Power with scripting, service programming, and even arranging for the musical guests! As author, composer, and performer, his life drastically changed after a horrific car accident in 2003. As a man of great faith, he went on to create the Mark Thallander Foundation, which he serves as president, and even continues to perform organ concerts around the country. The Mark Thallander Foundation presents choral festivals inspiring thousands of church musicians, singers, clergy, and congregations, presenting great music of faith. The foundation connects children and youth to sacred and classical music. In addition, it fosters the education of organists through music scholarships.
