SPREADING CHRISTMAS JOY AT REGINA RESIDENCE

By VANESSA FREI     12/30/2025

DURING THE ADVENT SEASON, students, alumni and members of St. Bonaventure Girl Scout Troop 2256 brought the true spirit of Christmas to life through a heartfelt visit to Regina Residence in Orange. Their mission was simple yet profound: to share joy, faith and companionship with the sisters who call Regina Residence home—especially our beloved Presentation Sisters, Sr. Mary and Sr. Maria, who hold a deep and enduring connection to the St. Bonaventure community.

For generations, the Presentation Sisters have played a meaningful role in the spiritual and educational foundation of St. Bonaventure Catholic School. Their presence has shaped countless lives, and this visit served as a beautiful reminder that those bonds do not fade with time or distance. Instead, they continue to grow through acts of love, remembrance and service.

As students shared the story of God’s love, they blended the Christmas narrative with familiar carols. The room grew quiet as young voices retold the story of Jesus’ birth, filling the space with reflection and hope. Joy followed as students sang Christmas carols, lifting spirits and bringing smiles to the sisters’ faces. Students also shared handmade gifts, small but meaningful expressions of love and care that were warmly received.

“The children bring such light with them,” shared Sr. Mary. “Their visit reminds us that our mission lives on through them. Their joy, their faith and their kindness are the greatest gifts we could receive at Christmas.”

For the students, the experience was equally meaningful. Many expressed how special it felt to give their time and talents to those who are homebound, especially during the holidays.

One student reflected, “I was nervous at first, but once we started singing, I could see how happy it made the sisters. It felt good knowing we were bringing them joy. It made Christmas feel more real.”

Parents who accompanied the group were deeply moved by the impact of the visit. Witnessing their children engage so compassionately reinforced the importance of service rooted in faith.

“This experience reminded me why we chose St. Bonaventure for our family,” shared Jenny Campos. “Children are learning that faith is not just something we talk about, it’s something we live. Seeing them connect with the sisters in such a genuine way was incredibly touching.”

As the group prepared to leave, hugs were exchanged, blessings were shared and there was a clear sense that something sacred had taken place. In the quiet halls of Regina Residence, Christmas joy had been shared, faith had been strengthened and a cherished bond between past, present and future Saints had once again been beautifully renewed.
