The picture was taken at Seitai Hoshikai Chapel, also known as Our Lady of Akita, in Akita, Japan. It is here where the original weeping wooden statue of Our Lady of Akita
is housed. It first wept on Jan. 4, 1975, and continued 101 times until Sept. 15, 1981, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.
The main message of Our Lady of Akita is a warning of chastisement for humanity if people fail to repent of their sinful ways.
