The Diocese of Orange has issued the following statement in response to Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken hosting SPI at the June 7 Pride Night game.
“Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken’s decision to host the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at the Angels Pride Night game is deeply offensive and divisive. The group’s demeaning behavior is anti-Catholic and anti-Christian. It’s disrespectful to the sisters of the Catholic Church who minister in Orange County and selflessly dedicate their lives to all God’s people. Embracing this group provokes division in our community instead of fostering a unifying spirit. We cannot condone actions that show such high levels of disregard for the sincerely held beliefs of the faithful.”
